Dutch tenor Erik Slik studied at the Conservatory of Music in Utrecht (the Netherlands) with Henny Diemer and is now being coached by Margreet Honig. He was a member of Theater Thüringen’s soloist ensemble for two years, where he performed in Nicolais Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Sinowi in Schostakowitsch's Lady Macbeth, Camille de Rossillon in Lehár's Die lustige Witwe, Rector Adams in Britten's Peter Grimes and Pylade in Gluck’s Iphygenie auf Tauris, as well as in in musicals such as Chess and Anatevka. Of importance to our 401DUtchOperas project is Slik's interpretation of the musician Mr. Dirk Sweelinck in the unique revival of Hendrik Andriessen's opera De spiegel uit venetië (The mirror from Venice, 1964) at the Haarlem opera in September 2018.

The Dutch National Oper Amsterdam brought Erik Slik in Lucia Di Lammermoor, Fanciulla dell West, Parsifal and Die Soldaten. With Nederlandse Reisopera he sang a.o. Gonzalve in l'Heure Espagnole (Ravel) and Don Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart). He worked with conductors such asHartmut Haenchen, Carlo Rizzi, Kenneth Montgommery, Richard Egarr, Charles Dutoit, Anthony Hermus and Ed Spanjaard. In 2015 he sang the lead role in the world premiere of Jonathan Dove’s The Day After with Holland Opera, where he also performed Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.  In the fall of 2016 he returned to the National Dutch Opera Amsterdam in Parsifal. He made his SOuth-African debut as Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Apart from his operatic ork, Slik is much in demand as a concert soloist in the Nethrlands and abroad. On his repertoire are also Händel’s Messiah, Bach’s Matthäus en Johannes Passion along with more modern works such as Britten’s 'Spring Symphony' and Henze’s 'Stimmen'. Since 2014 he is a member of the Dutch ensemble Frommermann, a close harmony ensemble in the tradition of the Comedian Harmonists.
