Annie Hermes 1906-1995
Johanna Sophia (Annie) Hermes, born September 16th 1906 in Hilversum, received her singing-training at the 'Amsterdam Conservatory. Very soon after her debut, she had already success with her beautiful and exceptionally well-balanced voice. She limited her repertoire to concert-performances and oratorio and made part of 'Felix de Nobel's Kamerkoor' (Chamber Choir of Felix de Nobel) together with a.o. Ans Stroink, Jo van de Meent and Roos Boelsma. For years she sang as alto soloist in the St. Matthew Passion in the 'Great Church' in Naarden under the direction of Anthon van der Horst. She was also active as a singing teacher.
She died on April 4th 1995 in Heemstede.
